Background

MOTS-c is a 16-residue peptide encoded by a short open reading frame inside the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. It was first described in 2015 by researchers in Pinchas Cohen's laboratory at the University of Southern California, and it is one of a small group of known mitochondrial-derived peptides.

Storage and handling

Store sealed vials at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Let a vial reach room temperature before opening so condensation doesn't form on the powder. Use standard laboratory PPE and dispose of material as chemical waste under local rules.
